This lovely pair of hand colored steel plate engravings would make an excellent addition to the home of any Lake George aficionado. 11x13 1837. William Henry Bartlett was born 1809 and died 1854. He became one of the foremost illustrators of topography of his generation. He first came to the United States in 1835 to draw the buildings, towns, and scenery of the Northeastern United States. Bartlett's renditions were accurate and interesting for travelers from America as well as abroad. His work is considered some of the best historic American documentation ever published during the early 19th Century. The work of W.H. Bartlett comes from American Scenery published in 1837 in London.
